Once upon a time this area was known for their electronic bazars and now the panorama has changed thoroughly. Near the Barceloneta, in the now quiet street of Calle Reina Cristina we have The Green Spot. It belongs to the group En Compania de Lobos, family of the Group Tragaluz.The Green Spot has an elegant atmosphere, welcoming, spacious, cozy & fresh. Their menu is vegetarian but it is as they say : Veggies for Veggie & Veggies for Non Veggie.

Perfect rendez-vous bars!

This time I come with two tiny places but very much worth visiting. One is a wine bar in the Poble Sec: Malamèn and one is a vintage bar where once in, you will just forget about the outside world: Entrepanes Díaz in Gracia.

Vibrant and stimulating: the historical El Raval!

This time we are in El Raval. It may not be the safest or cleanest area in Barcelona but it has a charm of its own, a strong character with tiny lanes filled with multi cultural gentry, tourists, cute little restaurants, art galleries, funky stores and bars. It is one of the area in Barcelona which has been undergoing big changes. It may recall a bit Brooklyn in New York. 
I come with three options: one perfect for -Brunch at Tropico or for a bite any time of the day; -one just right for that special clandestine place with some gourmet dishes La Robadora and last but not least on the Ramblas itself -the eclectic must go  Ultramarinos.

While shopping from Francesc Macia to pg de Gracia, here are some good options for a meal. 

Near Francesc Macia  you have a good japanese, Shibui. Celebrations & Family Time!

Here come some options when you go in a group or with family and children.  

• One of my favorite tapas place in town is Paco Meralgo. The Grup Olivé, which it belongs to has various restaurants and recently they have added Barcelona Milano.  Proper for big groups, it is huge and offers options to make all the family members happy: Italian or Catalan options in BarcelonaMilano restaurant.

12 Tapas 1 Mundo: Do it now!

Last week was the presentation of the solidary project: 12 Tapas 1 Mundo. The Andilana group has 14 restaurants in Barcelona, 6 in Madrid, 4 in Palamos and 1 in Girona; 3 hotels in France, Madagascar and Phillipines. 
The group has various expansion plans but right now we will talk about their latest solidary gesture. From July onwards 10 of their restaurants will offer one tapa at 1€ during a year. The amount collected will go to a different NGO each month. 

Casual Bites in style!

On this post, I present you a potpourri of ideas for a casual bite in style. We don't always have to go to some high funda exclusive restaurant to have a glamorous time. 

New in town: Rad Café! Perfect bite any hour!

We pass by there often and always stop for a coffee or tea somewhere there: there is a Starbucks next door. A couple of weeks back I decided to enter  Rad Café and I loved it. There used to be a restaurant before and now we have this cool loungy café. It has the same owner as the restaurant Bugui next door, there since years. It is perfect anytime of the day, they have brunches everyday till 12, with pancakes, eggs, fresh juices, original teas... A varied menu with snacks and sandwiches.

Unusual tapas in a casual bar! The Matis Bar with michelin star dishes!

I was invited to Matis Bar a couple of weeks back and was surprised when I entered. It looked like a normal bar in a basement, it is situated in the Colegio de Arquitectos de Catalunya.This in not a bar where you get your basic croqueta and beer. It is the small sister of the Michelin star restaurant Capritx by Arthur Martinez in Terrassa; the tapas and dishes you get have a pleasantly surprising strong personality in them.

Casual asian bite at Momos!

Hidden in Gracia, Momos is a small restaurant offering a mélange of Asian cuisine, central and north Asia, with a good variety of vegetarian options. Small portions, tapas and authentic taste in a cozy place; it is informal with a friendly service. MOMOS was born from the owner's passion for Asia. He was born in the Gracia district in Barcelona and lived in Asia for seven years always working in the catering industry , combining work with his other passion: travel .

Vin et Fromage @La Viblioteca!

The Gracia area has its own charm, and I love walking in those little lanes and finding cute places. We had passed from La Viblioteca various times, and after many recommendations from my foodies friends, I finally went. 
We loved it.  Biblioteca, in Spanish means library and at Viblioteca you have an incredible wine selections and a good choice on the wine per glass, a kind of wine library: 150 different Spanish wines! Their selection of wine per glass changes every 15 days.

Bodega La Puntual by Xampanyet and Grupo Varela.

I love the Born area, and while in the Born I need to pass by Xampanyet to have a glass and some bites. It is a BelleBarcelone's must. 
We have known Juan Carlos, of Xampanyet since years. We will manage to always find a space in the crowded place; typical small bar buzzing with people, botlles and plates flying around you. I just adore the atmosphere. 
Few months back he mentioned that he had gotten the local beside, and he was planning on opening a bar in partnership with Grupo Varela.
