Mr Kao, Chinese restaurant in a luxurious Hotel.

Mr Kao, recently opened in the luxury Claris Hotel, is a chic Chinese restaurant. Little sister of the famous & classic Chinese on c/Bisbe Sivilla: Shanghai
Few months back Kao Dim Sum opened near Shanghai, an informal dim sum restaurant and now here is Mr Kao. Shanghai was open by Kao Tzie Chen,the first Chinese chef in Barcelona who was able to introduce the Chinese cuisine to the Spanish palate. Now his son Jose Maria Kao is the chef at Shanghai and his daughters are taking charge of Mr Kao.
The name is in homage to Kao Tzie Chen. Mr Kao offers the best of Shanghai and of Kao Dim Sum; it has the legendary dishes of Shanghai as well as some signature dim sums. 
Barcelona was missing a Chinese restaurant where the ambiance was sophisticated and elegant as well as welcoming. It reminded me of Hakkasan - one of my favorite Chinese in LondonDubai, Mumbai, L.A... Dim lights, the perfect service, and incredible dishes. The restaurant is above and downstairs there is a cocktail bar. Soon they will be offering  tea and pastries such as mochis and others made by one of my favorite pastry chefs: Takashi Ochiai
It has two entrances one from the hotel on c/Pau Claris 150 and the other one from c/ Valencia. It also has a private corner. 
These are only the vegetarian options I got to try, they have other delicacies such as the famous Pekin duck and more.

Millenium egg, a chinese delicacy where the egg is cooked under the soil covered with ashes during several weeks. 

The Shanghai Signature dish.  Vegetable noodles served with a poached egg and black truffle. 

Sauté spinach. 

Lychee & Mango sorbet served with caramelized cashew nuts. 

Apple tempura.
