Many of you have asked me what is exactly the Film & Cook? This year was its 4th edition in Barcelona.
It is a fusion of art and gastronomy.
How? You have some movies, related to gastronomy and most of them are accompanied by a showcooking. The films are divided into 3 categories: competitive, exhibition and unexpected.
Unfortunately, I could only attend one show. It was just on Saturday and Sunday unlike last year. In Madrid they had it for 2 weekends.
There was a good list of films and cooks.
This year, as a novelty, they had a a guest country which was Mexico. There was some film dedicated to the secrets of this cuisine and Rodrigo Flores, chef from Hacienda de Los Morales, who traveled from Mexico for the Film & Cook festival.
I went on Saturday evening and saw the film on the Yucatán gastronomy, I discovered the wonders of this cuisine through their 400 different dishes.
It was a 30 min film and then we had a sweet showcooking by Alejandra Rivas. She is a Mexican chef, who has had experience in renowned restaurants in Mexico and in Spain, and now belongs to to the Celler Can Roca family and is in front of their ice-cream parlor: Rocambolesc. For those who don't know the Celler Can Roca has been for years one of the world's best restaurant. She showed a sweet version of the piñata. Piñatas are used for celebration and is a container made of papier mâché or pottery filled with sweets and treats for children, it is hanged and we need to break it to get our goodies; a very hispanic tradition.
A very interactive session.
This year the film & cook also introduced the Market & Taste, where we could enter for free; the films have a cost of 6 to 8 euros.
A very worthy experience where foodies get to learn and enjoy.
